Abigail Lenart

Called to the Bar 2015

Prior to acquiring Pupillage, Abigail was a County Court Advocate and undertook around 2000 civil hearings in County Court hearing centres across the county which gave her a great appreciation for working with lay clients and instructing solicitors.

Abigail has undertaken a breadth of family work, including private children law matters from FHDRA stage through to Final Hearings. She frequently provides advice and representation in cases where domestic abuse is alleged, and is confident in advising on the merits of either pursuing or defending such allegations. In cases where findings of domestic abuse have been pursued, Abigail has successfully obtained findings in relation to physical, psychological and sexual abuse, along with findings of coercive and controlling behaviour.

Abigail is happy to accept last minute instructions for applications for non-molestation orders, occupation orders, secure accommodation and DoLs orders.

Abigail attends public law children matters, representing parents and local authorities regularly. This encompasses preliminary hearing stages through to Final Hearings, including any urgent applications, case management hearings and finding of fact hearings. She has successfully represented Local Authorities where findings have been sought in respect of non-accidental injuries to children.

Abigail is described by clients as having outstanding 'people' skills. She is friendly and sympathetic to clients whilst being tenacious in court.

Abigail has considerable experience of Landlord and Tenant and Employment Law matters also.

Outside of work, Abigail holds women's meditation and empowerment circles to encourage others to find their voice and feel confident. She also partakes in weightlifting, strength training and yoga.
