John is a criminal barrister and his practice covers a broad spectrum of criminal law, including violence, drugs, dishonesty, fraud, public order, sexual and motoring offences.
John is regarded as a specialist in motoring and road traffic offences. He previously worked for one of country’s leading motor defence practices and was part of a specialist motoring prosecution team whilst at the CPS. John therefore has comprehensive knowledge of procedures and laws relating to motoring offences, particularly drink and drug driving. This has allowed John to secure successful outcomes for his clients on technical points.
John has also built up a busy practice dealing with cases involving sexual offences. John has dealt with cases involving contact offences, possession & distribution of indecent images, sexual communication offences and breaches of sexual harm prevention orders.
John is a skilful advocate and presents to the court with authority. He is very personable and is therefore popular with lay clients and solicitors alike.
Prior to joining Chambers, John worked for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) as a Senior Crown Prosecutor. Within this role, John would regularly provide pre- and post- charge advice to the police.
Outside of Chambers, John regularly provides advocacy training for aspiring barristers and solicitors. He is a keen fan of Formula 1 and enjoys travelling.
