Patrick Bedell
Called to the Bar 1999
Before joining the legal profession and after completing his law degree in 1992 Patrick undertook a post-graduate research degree from 1994 to 1996 and between 1992 and 1999 taught law at the four universities of Liverpool and Manchester before completing the Bar course in 1999.
Patrick worked in law firms from 1999 until cross qualifying as a solicitor in 2004 where he had a practice covering clinical and professional negligence and acting for adult survivors of child abuse.
Patrick returned to the Bar in 2018 and joined Charterhouse Chambers to focus on family law.
Outside work Patrick is a season-ticket holder at Manchester City and enjoys walking his dog in the Lancashire countryside.


FAMILY
Patrick undertakes all aspects of private children law matters, public law matters and financial remedy work. Patrick is particularly passionate about helping clients who qualify for legal aid within financial work.
Private Children
From FHDRA stage through to Finding of Fact and Final Hearings. Patrick provides advice and representation in all cases and in particular where domestic abuse, parental alienation, physical, psychological and sexual abuse, coercive and controlling behaviour have been alleged.
Patrick is instructed regularly by the same firms of solicitors and lay clients who ask for him to represent them again.
Known for his tenacity in court lay clients appreciate his down-to-earth approach and ability to make a difficult process more understandable coupled with the empathy and ability to ensure his client is understood. Professional clients know him for his meticulous preparation, attention to detail and prompt, advice and reports of hearing outcomes.
Public Law
Patrick will act for parents, grandparents, intervenors and children. He advises and appears in the county and High courts in matters involving Non-accidental injury and Deprivation of Liberty.
